All About Beauty

This post is dedicated to the beauty products I use on a regular basis. I thought I would share these with you since beauty really goes hand-in-hand with fashion. Make-up and hair can completely change the look and feel of an outfit. There are many products that I use but for this post, I'm focusing on Skincare, Make-up and Hair. Get an in-depth view of my beauty essentials after the jump.

Tangerine Tango

According to the Pantone Fashion Color Report, Tangerine Tango, a bright juicy orange, is the bee's knees for Spring 2012. I must admit it's a great colour that's just as cheerful as its sunny yellow cousin, Solar Power. Lucky for me, I bought this orange tank last year during Zara's summer sale and now it fits perfectly into this season's wardrobe. Don't you love it when that happens?

Stripes, polka dots and leather details are all things I can't get enough of so why not wear them all together?! I jazzed up this neutral outfit with a pink statement necklace and small purse with skull studs on it to create a more interesting look. So happy the sun came out just in time for the weekend too! It's going to be an exciting couple of days because my sister-in-law is getting married and our family of three are all in the wedding party. It'll be Charlotte's first time as a flower girl so get ready for some cuteness overload on my Instagram feed!

DIY: Cut-Out Shoulders Blouse

INSPIRATION: Equipment Nixie Cold Shoulder Silk Blouse | WHAT I'M USING: Joe Fresh Silk Blouse

I bought this black silk Joe Fresh blouse when it was on clearance in the Winter for $19.99 but haven't worn it yet. I felt like it was missing something so I took my inspiration from this Equipment blouse, which I adore, and decided to replicate the look. It's a pretty simple DIY and doesn't require a sewing machine (though you can certainly use one if you choose to). Learn how to make your own cut-out shoulders blouse in just 4 easy steps!

Step 1: Using a fabric pencil, draw out the shape of your shoulder cut-out on one side of the blouse. Depending on much skin you want to show, it can be round, oval, short or long. I chose to draw a long oval to create a deeper cut-out.

Step 2: Cut out the shape you just drew on the shoulder area. It's a little scary but you can do it! Remember to use really sharp scissors that are only meant for cutting fabric.

Step 3: After you've finished cutting the first shoulder out, fold the blouse evenly in half with the front side facing each other. I pinned the shoulders of the blouse together and cut the second side by following the outline of the first shoulder cut-out. You can also trace the oval shape again with your fabric pencil if you prefer to cut along a line.

Step 4: Try on the shirt to make sure you're happy with the shape and size of your cut-outs. Adjust as needed. Fold down the raw cut edge and machine sew or hand-stitch the hem. I chose to hand-sew a slip stitch so that the stitches would be more invisible.

Step 5: Wear with pride!

The temperature's been rising in Vancouver and I am ecstatic! It's so great to finally wear shorts without tights; this crochet pair from OASAP Fashion is one of my favourites. Now if only my legs weren't so pasty white...I'm hoping to remedy that in Vegas by catching lots of sun by the pool!

Late Afternoon

The day these photos were taken was the first time Eleanor and I were able to catch the glorious late afternoon light. The sun was partially hidden behind the clouds so we weren't able to capture the full effect of golden hour, but we were graced with soft, beautiful light nonetheless. I'm hoping to shoot more photos at this time of day now that summer is approaching.

Don't forget that this Sunday is Mother's Day! Happy Mother's Day to all my readers who are mommies!

Vegas Style - Night

As a companion to my daytime Vegas looks, here is my style board for night. It's all about sexy black dresses and accessories, complemented with touches of gold and a vampy red lip. A clutch that does double duty as a cross-body bag will keep my hands free, and is large enough to fit a pair of fold-over flats for when I need to kick off my heels after a long night of dancing.

The weather in Vancouver was so perfect over the weekend. It was warm and sunny, which made it incredibly nice to wear open-toed shoes without being cold! I wore this little number for a lunch date in the Olympic Village. I used to stay away from wearing black and yellow together because I thought it made me look like a bee, but I've come to enjoy the colour combination. What do you think?

Put it in Neutral

{ Top: H&M (old) // Jeans: Fade to Blue // Shoes: ShoeMint Hattie // Bag: Zara (last seen here) // Sunglasses: Roberto Cavalli // Bracelets: H&M and Forever 21 // Watch: Michael Kors }

As much as I love colour, sometimes it's really refreshing to wear an entirely neutral-hued ensemble. The key to keeping the outfit from looking too flat is to incorporate some texture. In this case, lace, a hint of snakeskin, and pyramid studs creates enough visual interest in a sea of white, cream and blush. Oh, and standing in front of a purple rhododendron bush doesn't hurt either! Happy Weekend everyone!

Vegas Style - Day

I'm heading to Las Vegas later this month for my friend's stagette and I've already started to mentally pack for the trip. Cute shorts, easy dresses, fun accessories and of course, a bikini and hat for lounging poolside, will all be going into my suitcase. I've rounded up some daytime looks I'd like to sport below (my looks for night will be showcased next week).
